However, the threat of rain will remain, with a chance of showers during the morning and into the afternoon. Gusts could reach around 17mph.
Sepang's tropical climate means the forecast can change rapidly, and the possibility of a thunderstorm will keep teams alert throughout the weekend.
With the Bahrain Grand Prix taking place in Malaysia for the first time, weather could prove an important variable at the Sepang International Circuit.
