Audi suffer triple-whammy Miami disaster ahead of qualifying

This is an absolute disaster for Audi, with a second pre-session set-back of the Miami Grand Prix weekend.

Gabriel Bortoleto will likely not qualify for the Miami Grand Prix after Audi has been unable to remedy the issue that saw him disqualified from the sprint in Florida.

Therefore, the Brazilian driver is expected to sit out the grid-setting session as the German team continues to work on his R26 to make it compliant with the F1 regulations.

Following the sprint, it was found by the FIA that the pressure of the engine air intake exceeded the legal limit of 4.8 bar, which is what prompted his exclusion.

Bortoleto will therefore line up P22 and last, most likely, with the motorsport governing body expected to admit the 21-year-old to enter even if he does not set a lap time.

Nico Hulkenberg will take part in qualifying after he missed out on competing in the sprint due to a power unit failure on his laps to the grid.

Update: Audi and Bortoleto defied all expectations to make it out onto the Miami International Autodrome.
