The Racing Bulls driver crashed at the narrow Castle section in a big accident.

Arvid Lindblad has become the first F1 casualty of the Azerbaijan GP castle section in 2026 after triggering red flags early in FP2.

The Racing Bulls driver who had finished FP1 in an encouraging eighth position, was inside the top 10 once again when he suffered his accident at Turns 8 and 9 - the narrowest point of the entire F1 season.

On entry to the left-hander of Turn 8, Lindblad ran slightly wide and clipped the wall with the right rear of his car, which then threw him into the wall further along with the right-front as the car came to a stop.

In apologising to his team, he felt he had clipped the wall by a "milimetre" ut it was enough to end his session, with the team to inspect any further damage to the internals, such as the gearbox, when it is returned post-session.
