F1 fans split as sprint events undergo major change for 2027

F1 fans have weighed in on the sprint race increase for the 2027 season.

It had been suggested for some time that F1 would look to augment the number of sprint events going forward, having been stuck at six for some time.

With the release of the 2027 calendar, F1 confirmed that 10 events have been penned in as sprint weekends next year.

They are set to be held in Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

It prompted RacingNews365 to ask you, the fans, what you thought of the increase.

Almost 40 per cent of those who responded indicated that sprint events have no place in F1, and every weekend should retain the traditional format of three practice sessions.

However, there are those who believe that sprint events should continue to play a part in F1 - albeit on differing scales.

While some think that 10 is the absolute limit for sprint events, others think six was the perfect number.

And there are even some who think that sprint events should be a feature of every race weekend.
