Max Verstappen blitzes field in chaotic race against 100 opponents

Max Verstappen eased his way to the front of the field in a chaotic karting event hosted by Red Bull at Silverstone on Wednesday.

Verstappen faced off against 100 opponents consisting of various online personalities and Red Bull athletes.

The Dutchman lined up at the back of the field, with the premise being that once he moved in front of a competitor, they dropped out of the race.

But with 100 karts fighting for the same piece of track on the opening lap, chaos ensued with multiple collisions occurring.

Verstappen also cut the track and found himself in P36, eliminating almost two-thirds of the pack on lap one.

From there, the four-time champion picked his way through the field, with his progress getting slower as he climbed the pack and came across the more competitive rivals.

35 minutes after the race start, Verstappen overtook his final competitor to complete the challenge.

“That was simply lovely, wasn't it?” Verstappen said immediately after it was over.

“I really thought my first lap would be a disaster, but I got helped a little bit with people getting super excited and crashing.

“That helped, a little bit - but it was a lot of fun.”
